The Milkboy Philly (located on 1100 Chestnut Street in Center City) will welcome Victoria Canal on her headliner tour on March 23rd. Canal is a singer, songwriter, activist and producer who just released her latest single called Chamomile on Friday, March 8th. Receiving mass accolades from the press, Canal captured the hearts of The New Yorker with her “ascendant career” and her “ability to unflinchingly capture feelings.” You can also catch her acting debut on Apple TV+’s anthology series “Little America,” (executive produced by Lee Eisenberg, Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon). Canal stars in the season’s moving episode, “The Indoor Arm,” as Ciela, a woman from El Salvador who is an amputee. The episode follows her adjustment to living in Beverly Hills and struggles to connect with sister’s new life. VC is truly a powerhouse and a testament that one can do great things, despite the challenges and obstacles they’ve been dealt in life.
WELL WELL (August 18, 2023 release) – is a six track EP released by Elektra/Parlophone, that takes listeners on an introspective journey inward, dealing with body dysphoria, struggles with love and her queer journey. It is an easy listen, that mellows listeners out and connects with them in a way that comes off as naturally as talking to a friend over a WhatsApp audio note.
Chamomile is an ode to friends who carry us up during difficult times and lifts us up when we can’t go on anymore. The benefits of hearing this song is much like that of consuming the hot tea as it helps with sleep and relaxation and clearer skin conditions. It is also one hot tea I choose to have when having dim sum and sharing it with loved ones. Despite what we choose to get, the steeping tea gets us all to shift our focuses to the here and now.
Victoria Canal is coming to The Milkboy Philly on March 23, 2024 (this Saturday) and you’d be kicking yourself silly if you don’t spend a few hours downtown listening to her angelic voice.
About Victoria Canal:
Born in Munich, Spanish-American Canal’s international upbringing fostered her love for a nomadic life in music. A proud “third culture kid,” she’s lived everywhere from Shanghai, Tokyo, Amsterdam, London, and Dubai to Atlanta, New York, and Forth Worth, and is proud of her identity as a queer, disabled, mixed-heritage woman, which fuels much of her activism.
