Oliver Hazard brings the Wild Eyed Tour to World Cafe Live - 10/22/2024

Scott Mulvahill

We got a chance to catch up with the Ohio natives Oliver Hazard as they bring their Wild Eyed Tour to The Lounge at The World Cafe Live back on October 22, 2024. Bass player Scott Mulvahill took the helm with his upright Bass to get the crowd warmed up for Oliver Hazard’s headliner later that night. Fans were lined up front and center as Mulvahill strummed his Bass to a plethora of Jazz/R&B-esque songs and mixed with his sultry vocals made for a swoon worthy performance. Throughout the night, the momentum that Scott had built up from the first song had only reached the peak as he pulled another upright bass. This one modified and engineered by Mulvahill himself with the help of his engineer buddy who was present at the show that night. Think of it as a light show, with beats from a drum pad and hooked up to a computer that makes the code work seamlessly throughout the set.

I was in awe as it was something I had never seen before and further drove me into the spiral that I needed to go on when I got home from the show. I needed to see and hear more of Scott Mulvahill and what a joy it was to hear him play his music for the wonderful crowd in Philly.

If I had to pick an emotion that I was riding on that night, it was that of unbridled  joy mixed with pure exhaustion as the day started out early for me. But I was ready and willing to ride that wave a bit longer so that I can see them WOW the crowd here in Philly. The stage was strewn with analog instruments, a mandolin (?) and a lot of vintage lamps. Which I had lovingly found out that the tiny lamp fan club was a thing amongst the Oli Hazard fans. Basically you come to 10 of their shows, you get a signed lamp. Despite the tiredness, I was ready.

They had played several songs off their new record and Haunted and Grenadine were my favorites. They also had a wonderful violinist who hopped on a few songs midway through the set and made everyone just mesmerized with just how in sync they were. These guys brought the Ohio is for Lovers vibe to Philadelphia and made sure everyone knew just how appreciated they were that they had made it out to the show. And we are also so grateful to get to be a part of it – thanks Oliver Hazard and Co.
